Keyboard Shortcuts For Lazy People

keyboardYou’re lazy, but that’s okay. You’re allowed to be when it comes to computing. Computers are supposed to make our lives easier, right? So why type things out or go through a complicated series of mouse clicks to get simple tasks done? As your resident lazy geek, I will point out a few of the less commonly known keyboard shortcut combinations. The time you save all week, you’ll be able to mow your lawn this weekend. Or maybe not. If you want to take a nap instead, I won’t tell.

Open the Task Manager
CTRL+SHIFT+ESC (Open Task Manager)

Display the Start Menu
CTRL+ESC (Display the Start menu)

Close the Active Windows
Ctrl + F4

Bypass the Recycle Bin and Permanently Delete
SHIFT+DELETE

Display the Desktop
Windows Logo+D

Open the Run box
Windows Logo+R

Display System Properties
Windows Logo+Pause Break

Open Control Panel
Windows Logo+C 

Log off Windows
Windows Logo+L

These should be enough keyboard shortcuts to get you back on the sofa watching TV sooner. We will continue looking for ways to make your life easier. Until then, don’t click too quickly–that could be considered exercise.
