The Roku Netflix Viewer

The Roku Netflix viewer allows you to watch movies instantly from the Watch Now area of your account. You must be a subscriber to Netflix, naturally, but once you are you instantly have the ability to view movies streamed from Netflix.  While there is reason to feel excited, current Netflix users probably are not. Why? Well, the current programming just isn’t good enough. While Netflix seems to be improving that section, it falls way short of On Demand programming of Verizon, Comcast and other providers.

Being a huge Netflix fan, I am hoping there will be an increase in the amount of quality titles that can be downloaded and watched on this device. IP television is definitely the future. So this device needs to work and Netflix is strong enough and forward-thinking enough to pull it off.

Question is, is the rest of the world ready for this? Are there enough broadband subscribers interested in investing in this new gizmo? I am, but I won’t because I have a PC hooked up to my television already.  This rules many of the geeks out for this product. So are there enough broadband subscribers that are not already watching Netflix on their televisions to push the Roku? I certainly hope so.
