Firefox 3 Download Tops 8 Million | Whoop-Dee-Do
Mission Accomplished Firefox!
People logged into their PCs as fast as they could this week, clicking their mice, their fingers a blur as they rushed to be a part of history. A part of history, like when man first stepped foot on the moon, right? They were destined to break the download record and are likely going to be in the Guinness Book of World Records for the most downloaded software in a 24 hour period.
While Firefox is a great browser–I use it myself. I think their record setting download was the result of the mass Exodous of users fleeing their previous version of Firefox. Some of those that went back to Internet Explorer no doubt downloaded the new browser in hopes that it would be an improvement of their last version.
Time will tell, I suppose. A major security flaw was reported already, but I’m sure that’s to be expected. So regarding the hype and the record setting attempt, we have to say whoop-Dee-Do.
